The 20th edition of World Poker Tour (WPT) Legends of Poker concluded with Joshua Pollock’s win in the $5,250 buy-in no-limit hold ’em main event. This tournament ran from August 27 through September 1 at the famous Parkwest Bicycle Casino. It attracted 642 entries, creating a prize pool of $3,113,700. Pollock defeated Ray Qartomy in the heads-up to claim the title for $573,350.
In August 2011, Pollock finished in fourth place in the same event to earn his maiden six-figure prize. Since then, he has emerged as a brilliant player with two World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelets. With this win, Pollock made his career-best earnings and increased his lifetime tournament earnings to around $1.7 million.

The massive prize pool was distributed among the top 81 finishers. 2013 WPT Legends of Poker Champion Jordan Cristos secured 11th position while two-time bracelet winner Michael Wand finished in nineteenth place. Other notables to make a deep run were bracelet winner Stephen Song (21st position), WPT winner Ryan Tosoc (35th position), and two-time WPT champion J.C Tran (36th position).
Final Day Action
Only six players returned on the final day, and Ray Qartomy entered the day as the chip leader. Adam Hendrix was short-stacked with just 11 big blinds. Later, he found a double-up but became the first victim of elimination. Hendrix moved all in with A (Diamonds) and K (Diamonds), and Matthew Wantman called with 4 (Spades) and 4 (Diamonds). Hendrix’s play came to an end when a 3 (Clubs) on the river came as a blank. The 2019 Venetian main event champion received $119,000 for his sixth-place finish.
Just after three hands, Lei Lei moved all in from the big blind. Matthew Wantman called with a K (Hearts) and K (Clubs). Lei rolled over A (Clubs) and J (Diamonds) while Wantman narrowed the field by flopping a set of Kings. Lei cashed a career-best earning of $156,000 for his fifth position in the event.
On the eleventh hand of the day, Aaron Motoyama raised with a 9 (Hearts) ad 9 (Clubs). Pollock called with Q (Diamonds) and 10 (Diamonds), and the flop showed 8 (Hearts), 3 (Clubs), and 2 (Diamonds). A Q (Hearts) on the turn helped Pollock improve his pair of Queens. Motoyama received no help from an 8 (Spades), and he left the table in fourth place for $207,000.
Matthew Wantman returned home after losing to Pollock. Wantman moved all-in with A-2 suited, and Pollock raised with A-9 suited. Both the turn and river did not favor Wantman, eliminating him in third place for $280,000.
The Heads-Up Play
Pollock entered the heads-up play with over a 3:2 chip lead. On the final hand, Pollock raised with 8 (Spades) and 8 (Clubs). Qartomy initially raised and then re-raised with A (Diamonds) and 8 (Diamonds). Pollock called with their pocket pair, and the board showed 9 (Hearts), 5 (Hearts), 4 (Clubs), J (Hearts), and Q (Clubs), sealing the pot and title for Pollock. Qartomy received $380,000 for his runner-up finish, increasing his lifetime earnings to over $5.1 million.
